Alan Parker, director and Chair of the British Film Council said: “I’ve no doubt that some great future filmmakers will come out of this programme, but more importantly, this scheme enables young people to be creative and to express themselves through film from an educational and social point of view”.
Launched in May 2001 by the Film Council, First Light is managed by Birmingham-based Hi8us First Light Ltd and to date, has given around 4,000 British youngsters the chance to write, shoot, act and produce more than 250 films.
