Gosetti's farewell to Toscan du Plantier
Giorgio Gosetti, the director general of Italia Cinema paid tribute to Daniel Toscan du Plantier who died this morning after suffering a heart attack. Toscan du Plantier, the president of Unifrance and one of the most charismatic figures on the international film scene, took ill in Berlin. Yesterday evening, he was a guest at the premiere of Claude Chabrol’s new film, La fleur du mal.
“The European film industry owes a lot to one man, a producer, a servant of the common cause of European culture of which, despite its multifaceted diversity, Toscan du Plantier was a standard bearer. He leaves his hopes for the future and are all united in the conviction that we now must transform them into reality.
