BERLINALE 2003 Awards

Kamera for Peer Raben

by

Dieter Kosslick, the artistic director of the 53rd Berlinale will present German composer, Peer Raben, with the Berlinale Kamera for his contribution to German film, on 13 February.
The Berlinale Kamera traditionally rewards artists and industry operators who have made a significant contribution both the this festival and the Teutonic film industry. The presentation will be followed by the screening of Die Reinheit des Herzens (1979) that won Raben the Gold German Film Award for his score.
Peer Raben is best known for having worked with Rainer Werner Fassbinder. Their first collaboration was on Love is Colder than Death (1969), and Raben wrote some of his most memorable pieces for the late German director, including Beward of A Holy Whore (1971), Lili Marlene (1981) and Veronika Voss (1982). Raben wrote the Opening Fanfare for the Berlin International Film Festival, that was played from 1962 to 1999 and he is the author of the music celebrating the Berlinale’s 50th anniversary edition in 2000.
