In competition - Petites coupures
- The star of Pascal Bonitzer's new film is looking for the right woman. And finds Kristin Scott-Thomas
"I am delighted to be in Berlin, but the death of Daniel Toscan du Plantier was a real body blow. We saw each other last week in Paris and I told me he was writing a review of my film. In all likelihood, that was his last review, and that is something that makes his death all the more personal for me. He was much more than the Ambassador of French cinema in the world: he was an exceptional man whose death opens a void in French and European cinema that can never be filled. " Pascal Bonitzer spoke about his late friend who died yesterday in Berlin. Bonitzer is at the German event to present his latest film, Petites coupures (Little Wounds), about a man whose wife has just left him and who begins the search for new love with a series of one-night stands.
Petites Coupures stars Daniel Auteuil and Kristin Scott-Thomas as Beatrice, a woman who is also looking for a way out of her marriage. "When I choose a film, " says the actress, "I start with the screenplay. I had a great time with Pascal and Daniel. I don’t think there’s all that much difference between working in the United States and Europe and, having to act in French, I needed to be more careful and could not let myself go and improvise. "
" I chose her because I have wanted to make a film with Kristin since seeing her in Una estate indimenticabile by Lucian Pintilie. I thought she was perfect for this part where she runs the entire gamut of emotions from comedy to tragedy in the same scene. She manages to express distance and madness at the same time. "
Petites coupures is a contemporary vaudeville about being man and women. Produced by Rezo Films, the film was sold by Flach Pyramide International, to over 15 territories.
