German-Turkish Co-Production Development Fund launches first call for applications

In response to the growing interest and potential of co-productions between Germany and Turkey, an agreement has been reached between Germany’s regional funds Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein and Turkey’s Culture and Tourism Ministry, and co-production market "Meetings on the Bridge" (part of the Istanbul Film Festival) to set up the first German-Turkish Co-Production Development Fund.

The deadline for submitting applications closes on March 15. The fund will have a €150,000 budget for promoting joint projects, with the aim of developing screenplays that have a chance of materialising into international co-productions between the two countries.

The funding, which cannot cover more than 80% of the project’s development costs, is aimed at producers from Turkey and the German regions involved in the agreement who are seeking to make a feature or creative documentary as a co-production planned for release in both countries. In exceptional cases, multimedia and television projects will be considered.
