A Danish short film entitled This Charming Man was nominated for an Oscar in the best short film (live action) category. Directed by Martin Strange-Hansen, who also wrote the screenplay with Christian Klem, and produced by Mie Andreasen for M&M Productions, This Charming Man won the Audience Award on 8 February in Clermont-Ferrand.
This is the fourth Oscar nomination for Danish production company, M&M Productions who won an Academy Award in 1999 for Anders Thomas Jensen’s short film, Election Night.
The creative trio behind This Charming Man also won an honorary foreign student award from the American Motion Pictures Academy in 2002 for their graduation film, Feeding Desire.
This Charming Man is about a man called Lars Hansen who is mistaken for El Hassan. Rather than inform the authorities of the mistake, Hansen decides to take advantage of his new identity.
