Panorama Special - Wolsfburg

by

- An accident can block the wheels of life. Christian Petzold's film is screened: "The story of a never-ending fall"

Wolfsburg is what you’d call an "unexpected" film. Directed by Christian Petzold, winner in 2000 of a German Film Award for Die Innere Sicher-heit (The State I Am In).
Benno Fürmann, a "Shooting STar" in Berlin in 2001, stars in this story that is as tragic as it is light, narrated with unusual delicacy and presented in the Panorama section in Berlin.

It is the story of a successful yuppie who kills a child in a road accident. Unable to confess his deed, he expiates his sin by losing first his fiancée, followed by his job, home and money. The film has moments of great intensity.

"Wolfsburg is the story of a catatrophe, an unstoppable drop. But it is also a love story, " says Petzhold. " About the power of cars, and an accident that blocks the mechanism of life. " Produced by Berlin’s Team Worx-Production, set up in 1998 by director Ariane Kampe, and co-produced with German broadcaster, ZDF.
