Eye on Films’ first edition looking for directorial debuts

by

The first edition of Eye on Films (EoF) was officially launched on March 14.

Created in January 2011 with the support of the MEDIA MUNDUS programme, Eye on Films is a global network of film professionals that promotes the circulation of a selection of first feature films at partner festivals in Europe and third countries, and the commercial exploitation of these films by distribution partners in Europe and third countries.

In the first year, 12 feature debuts (fiction and documentaries) will constitute the EoF label, selected by network members. Festival partners will then have the opportunity to select from the 12 films a limited number of titles to screen at their event (50% European films, 50% non-Europeans).

For each country where there is a festival partner, there is also a distribution partner. Distributors will have the opportunity to preview the films at an early stage and will acquire at least two label films for local theatrical release (again, 50-50 European and non-European films).

The 15 festival partners include Edinburgh, Haifa, Rio de Janeiro, Seville, La Rochelle and Seattle. Distribution partners include Nomad Film (Italy), CNC (Belgium), Imovision (Brazil) and Curious Films (Australia).
