EXHIBITORS France

MK2 open new multiscreen

by

- MK2 Group's 10th Parisian complex has 14 screens, four restaurants, two shops and exhibition space for quality cinema

On 17 February the all-new "MK2 Bibliothèque" owned by MK2 opened its doors for business, with the French culture minister, Jean-Jacques Aillagon officiating.
This state-of-the-art theatre is the tenth MK2 multiplex in Paris and the 58th cinema of the MK2 circuit owned by Marin Karmitz’s Art & Essai Group, who estimate annual attendance figures will be in the region of 1.1 million.
Situated in the 13th arrondissement, the futuristic all-glass "MK2 Bibiothèque" cost Euros30m and has four restaurants, two shops (one of which sells DVDs) and exhibition space.
Last year over 3.4 Parisian filmgoers chose to see a film in one of the then nine MK2 multiplexes. Marin Karmitz’s company is also one of France’s most active film producers and distributors and they plan on extending their exhibition activities with a further 7 new theatres in other Paris neighbourhoods scheduled to open in 2004. Excellent news for a company which has always promoted quality films.
