New Chair for “Film London”

The British Film Council (FC) has appointed veteran producer Sandy Lieberson as the new Chairperson of Film London, a new body responsible for representing and developing London’s film and media industries.
Lieberson will take up his new position in April and will be responsible for encouraging and supporting filming activities; promoting film culture, education and exhibition in the British capital, and developing training and economic initiatives in London.
Film London will be receive funding from the FC’s National Lottery programmes and Regional Investment Fund, the London Development Agency and the European Regional Development Funds.
Lieberson has worked in the European and American film industries for over 30 years. An independent producer since the mid-1990s, he also set up the production department for the National Film & TV School in London, and has worked with the MEDIA Programme on training initiatives.
Commenting Lieberson’s appointment, the FC’s CEO John Woodward said: “More than 23,000 people in London work in the film and video industries and they make an extremely important contribution to London’s economic life. Having Sandy represent the industry will help to cement London’s status as one of the film capitals of the world”.
