Christophe Honoré’s Les Biens-Aimés (“The Beloved”, see news) looks certain to close the 64th Cannes Film Festival (May 11-22, 2011). Honoré’s eighth feature, which once again takes inspiration from musical comedy, stars Catherine Deneuve, Chiara Mastroianni, Ludivine Sagnier, Louis Garrel, Paul Schneider and Milos Forman.

Les Biens-Aimés was produced by Why Not Productions. Its €6.8m budget included co-production support from France2 Cinéma, pre-acquisitions from Canal + and Orange Cinéma Séries, and backing from the Ile-de-France region. 70% co-produced by France, 20% by the UK and 10% by the Czech Republic, the film will be released in French theatres on August 24 by Le Pacte.

International sales are being handled by Celluloid Dreams.
