Shooting kicks off today in Naples on Big House, the latest film by Matteo Garrone (photo). The director returns behind the camera three yeas after Gomorra [+see also:

, which besides grossing over €10m in Italy won numerous awards, top among them the Special Grand Prix at Cannes 2008.

The feature film, which will shoot in Naples and Rome for 11 weeks, looks at the TV industry, reality shows and the illusions of notoriety.

Produced by Domenico Procacci for Fandango and Garrone for his company Archimede Film in collaboration with RAI Cinema, Big House stars newcomer Aniello Arena and Neapolitan actress Loredana Simioli.

The crew comprises the director’s long-time collaborators: DoP Marco Onorato, production designer Paolo Bonfini, editor Marco Spoletini and sound designer Maricetta Lombardo.

Costume designer on the film is Maurizio Millenotti, who won a David di Donatello Award in 1999 for Giuseppe Tornatore’s The Legend of 1900 and was twice nominated for an Oscar, in 1986 for Othello and in 1990 for Hamlet, both by Franco Zeffirelli.
