Omnibus Zagreb Stories 2 - Love starts shooting

by

Croatian production company Propeler Film has begun principal photography on the first of six short films that will comprise the omnibus Zagreb Stories 2 – Love, a sequel to 2009’s Zagreb Stories.

The budget for the filming of each segment is €20,000, and additional €130,000 will be provided for editing, music and post-production.

On June 27 writer-director Hana Veček started shooting Kruške (Pears), starring Aleksandra Stojaković and Siniša Popović. Veček’s first short film Bad Day for Captain Hook had won the Golden Pram award for best Croatian Student Film at the 2008 Zagreb Film Festival.

Two other segments will shoot in July: Može neko čik bacit odozgo (Someone Might Drop a Cigarette Butt) by writer-director Josip Visković, starring Katja Crevar and Nikola Miljanović; and Na kvadrat (Squared), written by Jasna Žmak and directed by Radislav Jovanov, with a cast that includes Judita Franković and Ivana Roščić.

By the end of 2011, Mucica by Aldo Tardozzi, Al’ tata, ti me voliš (But Dad, You Love Me) by Sara Hribar and Moj vrt (My Garden) , written by Ivan Skorin and directed by Ivan Sikavica should complete principle photography. Skorin and Sikavica had also made one of the segments of the original Zagreb Stories.

Two of the short films from the original omnibus ended up in competions at two of the biggest European festivals: Goran Odvorčić’s Ciao Mama played in Cannes, and Zvonimir Jurić's Yellow Moon screened in Berlin. Moreover, Yellow Moon won Best Short Film at last year's Sarajevo Film Festival.
