Lazio takes first place for number of film and TV ventures
With around 1,800 active local businesses (equal to 28% of the total), Lazio has reached first place among Italian regions in the film and TV sector, as revealed by the Report on the impact of the entertainment industry in Lazio, conducted jointly by ‘Studi e Ricerche per il Mezzogiorno’ and Intesa Sanpaolo, Regione Lazio, Anica and Anec.
Presented today, the study highlights how for every extra 1000 Euros spent in the sector, there is an increase of €850 in terms of GDP (of which €570 are in the entertainment sector and €280 induced). The impact of the film industry on the Lazio region represents an added value of around €2.8 billion, equivalent to around 60% of the national data.
Improving competitiveness vis-à-vis international markets, updating film choices available through an even distribution in cinemas countrywide, meeting the challenge of innovation-digitisation and achieving a synthesis between cinema, culture and entertainment through the Cinecittà World theme park will feature among the sector’s main aims in the immediate future.
