The death of Titos Vandis

- Veteran of stage and screen takes a final bow

Titos Vandis a well-known Greek screen and stage actor died yesterday in Athens after a long fight with cancer. He will be best remembered for his short but memorable appearances in two of Jules Dassin’s most celebrated movies, Never On Sunday (1960) and Topkapi (1964). Titos Vandis was a familiar figure on Broadway in the 1960 and 1970s where he appeared in a number of hit shows. Woody Allen cast Vandis in his landmark 1972 All You Ever Wanted to Know About Sex..., Vandis also co-starred in The Exorcist (1974). He was a regular with the National Theatre of Greece and his last appearance was in David Rintel’s “Clarence Darrow” in 1997.
