Avalanche of projects get shooting

by

In production for some time already, directors Vincent Patar, Stéphane Aubier and Benjamin Renner have unveiled new images from their latest project, Ernest & Celestine, a 2D adaptation (quite a feat in these times of higher dimensions!) of Gabrielle Vincent’s tale. It boasts an impressive cast and crew: Daniel Pennac as screenwriter, Goran Bregovic as score composer, and actor Lambert Wilson for the deep, soft voice of Ernest the bear.

The film is produced by France’s Les Armateurs, Luxembourg’s Melusine, and Belgium’s La Parti, who were also behind the film adaptation of A Town Called Panic [+see also:

. La Parti has quite a few projects on the go, including Riton Liebman’s Je Suis Un Supporter du Standard, and Fabrice du Welz’s forthcoming feature Alleluia, starring Bouli Lanners and Jeanne Balibar.

Another busy production company this autumn is FraKas, who are preparing the shoots for two debut features, David Lambert’s Hors les Murs (“Outside the Walls”), and Delphine Noels’s Post-Partum (featuring Laetitia Casta). These will be the first two majority features by Jean-Yves Roubin’s company.

Staying with Liège-based companies, Tarantula also has a busy slate, focusing on debut films too. Shooting on Mobil Home, which kicked off in July, is expected to take Joseph Rouschop and his team up to the end of summer, and shooting will start soon on Savina Dellicour’s debut film, Tous Les Chats Sont Gris (“All Cats Are Grey”), featuring Olivier Gourmet. Anonyme Films is preparing the shoot for enigmatic flick The Strange Colour of Your Body’s Tears, the second film by directorial duo Hélène Cattet and Bruno Forzani.

On the Flemish side, Fien Troch has also just started shooting her second film, the soberly titled Kid, produced by Prime Time and Versus Production.

Finally, the shoot has also been announced for Peter Monsaert’s debut feature, Offline, produced by Lunanime and Victoria Deluxe.
