After the opening film, Francesco Bruni’s Scialla! (see news), the full line-up has been announced for the Controcampo Italiano section at the 68th Venice International Film Festival (August 31-September 10, 2011).

Among the six features chosen to illustrate new trends in Italian cinema are two comedies: Cose dell'Altro Mondo by Francesco Patierno (photo), starring Valerio Mastandrea, Diego Abatantuono and Valentina Lodovini; and Ricky Tognazzi’s Tutta Colpa della Musica, starring the director, Stefania Sandrelli, Elena Sofia Ricci and Marco Messeri.

The line-up also includes Fabrizio Cattani’s Maternity Blues, a drama about four women who have all killed their own children. A seventh feature will be announced in the upcoming days.

The Controcampo section, which has this year expanded its programme to include documentaries and shorts (see news), will also present Davide Ferrario’s documentary marking the 150th anniversary of Italian Unification, Piazza Garibaldi, featuring Filippo Timi and Toni Servillo; Carlo Augusto’s documentary Black Block, ten years after the bloody G8 summit in Genoa; and actress Maria Grazia Cucinotta’s directorial debut, the short film Il Maestro.

The Controcampo Italiano jury, headed by director Roberta Torre, will include fellow director Aureliano Amadei (20 Cigarettes) and actress Cristiana Capotondi.
