Cannes titles sweep Sarajevo Film Festival

won the Heart of Sarajevo for best film at the 17th Sarajevo Film Festival (July 22-30).

The movie first screened at this year’s Cannes Directors’ Fortnight also won best actor for Thomas Schubert, as well as the CICAE Award.

by the Bulgarian director Konstantin Bojanov, which world-premiered in Cannes Critics’ Week, won the Special Jury Prize and the Cineuropa Award.

The Heart of Sarajevo for best actress went to Ada Condeescu for her role in Catalin Mitulescu’s Loverboy [+see also:

, which had had its world premiere in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard.

Dalibor Matanic’s Mezanine (Croatia) won best short film, while Nadejda Koseva’s Take Two (Bulgaria-Germany) and Veljko Popovic’s Dove Sei, amore mio (Croatia) received special mentions.

Roee Rosen’s Out from Israel was chosen as Sarajevo’s nominee for the best short film at the European Film Awards.

Best documentary went to Nedzad Begovi’s A Cellphone Movie (Bosnia) and Imre Azem’s Ecumenopolis: City Without Limits (Turkey/Germany) got the Human Rights Award.

At Sarajevo’s co-production market CineLink, Hugo Vieira Da Silva’s and Heidi Klum’s project The Wednesday Child (Austria) received €10,000 worth Living Pictures Service Award in kind, while Nikola Ljuca from Serbia took the €6,000 worth International Relations Arte Prize for Humidity.

The Eurimages Award of €30,000 went to Turkey’s Mahmut Fazil Coskun for Yozgat Blues, and Stage Fright by Yorgos Zios from Greece got the CNC Award worth €10,000.

In the Work in Progress section, The Post Republic Award of €80,000 in post-production services was given to Turkey’s Ali Yildin for Mold, while Romania’s Alexandra Gulea received €20,000 in kind Restart Award for Child Miner.
