film profile], starring Isabelle Huppert has been the most successful Austrian film in other EU member states since the introduction of the distribution support scheme by the MEDIA programme in 1997. According to these statistics, more than 1.5 million cinemagoers have seen the film version of Elfride Jellinek’s book in 13 EU Member states in 2001 alone. The most successful results came in France with an audience of 713,019 followed by Italy (243,591), Germany (231,478) and Spain (121,122).
