Trade union agreement reached between Produzentenallianz and Ver.di
Germany’s main services sector union, Ver.di, and Allianz der Deutsche Produzenten, a group that defends the interests of audiovisual producers, have reached an agreement to extend, until the end of 2013, the current framework collective agreement and the wage agreement for workers in film and television production, as well as the wage agreement for supporting actors.
The consensus reached in the third round of negotiations will enable a freeze in wage increases until July 2012, when there will be a fixed increase of €35 per week in the wages of professionals included in the agreement, whatever category of workers they belong to. This particularly benefits those on the lowest wages, representing an increase of up to 5%. In January 2013, there will be a fixed increase of €10 per week, as well as a percentage increase of 2%.
As with the previous agreement, it is signed for a period of two years (instead of the usual one). According to Christoph E. Palmer, who represents the producers in the negotiation, this gives the companies the “security they need for their planning”.
According to Ver.di, 10,000 professionals work every year in the audiovisual sector under the protection of these agreements. Produzentenallianz brings together 220 companies in the sector. The ball now lies with Produzentenallianz’s board of directors, who will have to approve the agreement at their next meeting on November 30.
