Schweiger prepares his next hit, Schutzengel

by

From January 24, Berlin will host the shoot for German star Til Schweiger’s latest film as director and lead actor. He has been producing guaranteed local box-office hits at an almost yearly rate.

Schutzengel will tell the story of Max Fischer, a former soldier with the KSK Special Forces Unit, who is put in charge of a witness under State protection, Nina (played by Luna Schweiger, her younger sister Emma had the opportunity to appear alongside their father in this year’s Schweiger film, Kokowääh, third place in the 2011 box-office rankings and top German film with over 4,315,000 admissions). The mission proves to be particularly difficult, because 15-year-old Nina doesn’t trust anything or anyone and has a solitary temperament, like Max. Hunted down and alone in adversity, they gradually strike up a friendship.

Besides the strong impact of the Schweiger name, the film’s enticing cast also includes Moritz Bleibtreu, Hannah Herzsprung, Karoline Herfurth, Rainer Bock and Herbert Knaup, among others.

Schutzengel is produced by the director’s company, Barefoot Films, in collaboration with Warner Bros, who will also release it on German screens.
