High Point joins Community

The UK’s High Point Media Group has acquired world rights for urban hoodie horror Community, written and directed by Jason Ford.
The film follows a pair of young documentary filmmakers whose investigations into a notoriously violent housing estate lead them into the heart of its psychotic, drug-fuelled community. Debutante Jemma Dallender and Elliott Jordan (Toybox) star.
Ford’s debut This is Essex (AKA: New Town Original) won critical notice at Karlovy Vary. He developed the concept for Community with his producing partner Terry Bird for their company, New Town Films.
High Point’s Head of Development, Piers Nightingale, who negotiated the deal with Bird, said, “Pitched somewhere between The Wicker Man and Kidulthood [+see also:

High Point’s founder Carey Fitzgerald added, “We are delighted to be on board with New Town Films and look forward to a productive working relationship together.”
High Point will present Community to buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin in February. The film is currently in post.
