by

Caesar Must Die, new film by the brothers Paolo and Vittorio Taviani, has been selected in Competition to the Berlino Film Festival (from February 9 to 19). Produced by Kaos Cinematografica in collaboration with Rai Cinema, the film will be out in Italian cinemas on March 2 with Sacher Distribuzione.

Caesar Must Die is a docu-fiction which follows the drama workshops directed inside the prison of Rebibbia in Rome by the director Fabio Cavalli, author of Shakespearean classics played by inmates.

The film follows the rehearsals and the final show of “Julius Caesar”, but also the lives of the inmates in their cells. ”We will ask ourselves questions about the contrast between an actor’s absolute freedom and the constrictions of someone who must live imprisoned”, Paolo Taviani had stated shortly before he started filming.

The films soundtrack is by Giuliano Taviani and Carmelo Travia.
