FFHSH publishes annual report

by

The Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein Film Commission (FFHSH), Hamburg city and the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein’s fund for cinema and television, has published its annual report for 2011. Last year, the fund supported 188 projects for a total of €11m, of which €9.2m went to 77 cinema and television productions and up to €680,000 went to new talents.

The most positive figures from the report are its so-called “regional income”, the relation between funding granted by the commission and investment in the region, which reached 224%, or about €1.6m, funds automatically at the disposition of corresponding producers as “reference funds”.

The films financed by the institution attracted almost 4.5 million spectators in cinemas, generating €28m at the box office. In total, there were 2,301 days of shooting in the region, from which 1,41o were in Hamburg and 891 were in Schleswig-Holstein, and in which both German and foreign producers received support from the film commission.

To coincide with Hamburg being the European Capital of the Environment in 2011, the film commission introduced the “green permission for shooting” or “ Grünner Drehpass”, a guide to eco-friendly practices on a shooting set.
