The jury chose this first work by Rohrwacher, who defeated seven other directors (leggi la news), "for her ability to explore complex situations and subjects with simplicity but with great expressive power, with subtlety and a sense of humour".
"It’s an unexpected joy to win this award", said the winner, "it’s like knowing that Marta, with her fragile steps and her small strength has walked all the way over to you who live so far away". The director then added that she has lived "this work as an experience, as an opportunity for research, perhaps slightly risky, but that we see as very clear. This award gives us the courage and the willingness to continue to work".
