Shooting Stars on Tour

by

After their official presentation at the last Berlinale, the next stop for Europe’s rising young acting talents selected for the 2003 edition of Shooting Stars, organised by European Film Promotion (EFP) and supported by MEDIA Plus, is the 49th Taormina BNL Film Festival (Taormina-BNL - 7-14 June 2003).
The 19 talents will take part in the inaugural gala on 7 June and the 19 films starring them will be screened during the event.
Organised by the Taormina Arte Committee, with support from the Regione Siciliana and the Italian Ministry for Culture, the Taormina-BNL Festival will also host the European premieres of some of the coming season’s most eagerly awaited titles, as well as a rich selection of premieres from all over the world.
The Taormina programme includes 6 lessons on cinema given by directors, producers, writers and actors – both Italian and non, each of whom will choose a film to screen for an audience of students and members of the public, who will be also meet and talk with the “tutors”.
Although the Taormina-BNL is not a competitive event and has no juries, it is where the Silver Ribbon awards, assigned by Italy’s film journalists’ guild, are presented during the closing gala event on 14 June. That is when the BNL award for best international short film will also be presented.
