film profile] (2010) sold 620,000 tickets domestically to become No 1 blockbuster of the year – and it secured Hollywood tickets both for Espinosa, whose first US picture Safe House has grossed €72.7 million since February 10, and his lead actor Joel Kinnamon, who has most recently been signed for the new Robocop.

film profile] in the post for Babak Najafi and slated for an August 31 launch, Swedish producer Fredrik Wikström, of Tre Vänner Produktion, has announced that the trilogy from Swedish lawyer-turned-author Jens Lapidus’s 'Stockholm Noir' novels will be concluded by Swedish writer-director Jens Jonsson (pictured - whose The King of Ping Pong [+see also:

film profile] won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance in 2008).

”Easy Money 3 will obviously be the most exciting and action-filled part of the series, and I am happy that Jonsson will continue the international standards set by Espinosa and Najafi,” said Wikström, who will produce with Nordisk Film Production AB, Film i Väst, Swedish pubcaster SVT with support from the Swedish Film Institute and Espinosa as executive producer.

The first instalment in the series from Lapidus’s trilogy and Never Fuck Up novels won three Guldbagger – Sweden’s national film prize – and sold more than 30 territories through Denmark’s TrustNordisk. Warner Bros picked up US remake rights; according to publicity manager Gilda Romero, of Tre Vänner, script, cast and schedule is currently being negotiated.

With Kinnaman, Matias Varela and Dragomir Mrsic in the leading roles, the trilogy centres around JW, a poor young student with a double life within the wealthy Stockholm elite. In part one he gets involved in organised crime, in the sequel he serves hard time in prison, struggling to return to an honest way of living - the final chapter is based on Lapidus’ best-selling Life Deluxe.
