After having recounted the hard childhood of Somali model Waris Dirie in Desert Flower (2009) and filmed an adaptation of The situation is hopeless but not serious: The pursuit of unhappiness by Paul Watzlawick to come out next autumn, Sherry Hormann received €500,000 for 3096, a film to tell the story of Natascha Kampusch, the young Austrian girl held hostage for eight years. Bernd Eichinger and Ruth Thoma are writing the screenplay and the film will be produced by Constantin.

Eleven years after her film Nowhere in Africa, Caroline Link returns to the African continent to film Marokko, the tale of a father-son relationship that she wrote and that will feature actor Ulrich Tukur in the main role. The FFA has contributed €400,000 to this Desert Flower production. The same amount (plus €50,000 in distribution support for NFP) has been accorded to Pepe Danquart for his new project Lauf, Junge, Lauf (prod. bittersuess pictures), as it has to Vivian Naefe (the director of popular teenage films series The Wild Chicks) for Der Geschmack von Apfelkernen (prod. Bavaria).

Award-winning director Thomas Arslan, who is preparing a Western to star Nina Hoss called Gold (prod. Schrammfilm Koerner & Weber), obtained €250,000 euros (plus €50,000 for its distributor Piffl Medien). Another €50,000 euros went to screenwriter and director Annekatrin Hendel for Anderson (prod. IT WORKS! Medien).

Finally, young talented writer Maximilian Erlenwein (Max Ophüls Prize in 2010 for Schwerkraft) was allocated €30,000 for the screenplay of Schatten (prod. Frisbeefilms).
