- Shooting started yesterday on three much awaited Italian films, from Gressoney to Latina and Bari

From Gressoney to Bari, via Latina, filming got off to a start on three much awaited Italian films. Following takings of over €10M with The Worst Week of my Life (see the news), Alessandro Genovesi (pictured) is back on set for the shooting of his sequel, The Worst Christmas of my Life, which will last over seven weeks and will be entirely set in Gressoney (Valle d'Aosta region). The main characters are still Fabio De Luigi and Cristiana Capotondi, with alongside them Antonio Catania and Andrea Mingardi. New faces include Diego Abatantuono, Laura Chiatti, Anna Bonaiuto, Dino Abbrescia and the comical duo Ale and Franz. Written, as its predecessor, by Genovesi and De Luigi, The Worst Christmas of my Life recounts Paolo’s tragi-comical adventures a few days before Christmas, what with pregnant wife, in-laws and snow-related nuisance. Produced by Maurizio Totti and Alessandro Usai for Colorado Film in collaboration with Rti, the film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures Italia.

Shooting also started yesterday on the much awaited directing debut of Alessandro Gassman with Roman e il suo cucciolo, based on the homonymous play and starring the same actor Reinaldo Povod. As well as Gassman and other showbiz actors, the casting includes Romanian model and actress Madalina Diana Ghenea. The plot revolves around the difficult relationship between a semi-illiterate father and drug-dealer and a teenage son who is a heroin addict. The film’s outdoor scenes will be filmed in Latina for three weeks, among the rationalist architectures chosen by Paolo Sorrentino (The Family Friend) and Daniele Luchetti (Mio fratello è figlio unico [+see also:

). The last week of filming will take place in Rome for the inside scenes. The film is supported by the Latina Film Commission.

Finally filming has also started in Bari on L'amore imperfetto, Francesca Muci’s first work, based on its homonymous novel and written together with Gianni Romoli. Produced by Tilde Corsi and Gianni Romoli for R&C with Rai Cinema, the film will star Anna Foglietta (the revelation from Nessuno mi può giudicare [+see also:

), Giulio Berruti, Camilla Filippi, Bruno Wolkowitch and Lorena Cacciatore. The story is that of Elena, a woman who has resigned herself to a life without feelings. But when a lively 18-year-old and a fascinating mature man break into her life they will involve her in a loving and sensual merry-go-round which will allow her to free herself from past feelings of guilt and to discover new rules of love.
