30/03/2012 - Swedish international sales company NonStop Sales will represent Finnish directors Kimmo Koskela’s documentary and Miikko Oikkonen’s TV series Nymphs

Finnish director Kimmo Koskela’s Soundbreaker – the documentary on controversial Finnish accordionist Kimmo Pohjonen – won for Best Creative Film at the FIFA-International Festival of Films on Art at Montreal, which ended last Sunday (March 25).

Swedish international sales company NonStop Sales picked up the Koskela and Klaus Heydemann production for Koskela Art & Media House and Finnish pubcaster YLE. FIFA will show the film in six major cities worldwide, while NonStop sales director Michael Werner will introduce it to the international markets at the upcomimg MIP-TV in Cannes between April 1-4.

A controversial figure on the concert scene, Pohjonen shattered most traditional standards of music, not only through his six albums, but also through his collaborations with – among others – the Helsinki Nelson Wrestling Group for Accordion Wrestling, reviving a music, sport, dance and theatre performance from the 1920s.

Combining the accordion with voice, sound effects and visuals, exploring his amplified instrument, he has played with the American Kronos Quartet, the Icelandic sampling artist Samuli Kosminnen in Kluster, US musicians Pat Mastelotto and Trey Gunn (King Crimson) in KTU, and Finnish singer-juggler Ville Walo in Iron Lung.

At MIP-TV Non Stop Sales will also launch Finnish director Miikko Oikkonen’s 12x44min fantasy drama TV series Nymphs, from Matti Halonen-Fisher King Production, and Swedish director Torbjörn Lindqvist’s drama-documentary Jussi Björling, a biopic of the Swedish tenor (1911-1960) produced by Lindqvist for Mas-Media.
