film profile] by Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano, a film that in France drew 19.27 million viewers and €121.8m in receipts to the box office, is continuing on its conquest of audiences worldwide. Last weekend, according to Unifrance estimations, it crossed the threshold of 15 million admissions, equivalent to over €100m in receipts. This provisional result earns it a spot among the four most successful French language films worlwide for the last two decades, behind Amelie [+see also:

After having seduced 7.6 million German spectators (and making it to national box office’s top 10 for 13 semaines), Untouchable has also become France’s greatest success in Italy since 2000 with over 2 million admissions in seven weeks. The film is also doing extremely well in Spain with 1.45 million viewers in five weeks, in Switzerland (1.2 million admissions and second ever at the box office behind Titanic), in Belgium (960,000 admissions), Austria (650,000 spectators), and Greece (40,000 in two weeks). The film was released last Friday in Poland.

Outside Europe, Untouchable has also enjoyed a surprising kick off in South Korea, a territory usually quite difficult to breach for European films. The film made it to box office number 2 during its first weekend, and has so far reaped 1.5 million admissions in three weeks.

The film is now taking on the Latin American market with nine releases planned for April, before being released in the United States in May.
