In its Supernova sidebar, the festival will screen high-profile international productions, many of them awarded at important festivals in the world. Another sidebar, No Limit, is reserved for shocking new films, while more than a dozen horrors and thrillers are included in the Shadows sidebar, which also has a competition of short films. Danish and Australian cinema are the subject of two Focus sections, while all the films directed by Stanley Kubrick will be screened, in remastered versions, together with a few documentaries about the work of the great director, in the 100% Stanley Kubrick section. 16 new documentaries are included in the What's Up Doc? sidebar.

One of the most popular sidebars, Romanian Days, will screen new domestic productions from 2011 and 2012. Among the new titles there are Tudor Giurgiu's Of Men and Snails (photo), Florin Piersic Jr.'s Killing Time, Radu Gabrea's Three Days Till Christmas, a film about the last three days of Nicolae and Elena Ceausescu, and Anca Hirte's Teodora Sinner.
