Vértice Sales change course

- The Vértice 360º group's international sales agency takes on its own identity and focuses on quality auteur films in Spanish

International sales agency Vértice Sales has turned its film strategy around and chosen to now focus mainly on good quality arthouse films in Spanish, whatever their country of production. This new and improved version of the agency will have its debut at the Cannes Film Festival, to be attended by head of acquisitions Álex La Fuente and head of sales María Arroyo.

"There was a gap in the market in the arthouse sector, as there wasn't a single Spanish sales agent exclusively dedicated to this," explains La Fuente, who recently arrived in Cannes. "These are films with great potential for festivals."

Until today, the agency, which belongs to the Vértice 360º group, was in charge of international sales for films produced by the group's production company, Telespan 2000 (especially active in comedy and genre films). From now on, Vértice Sales will stop being linked solely to the group's productions and will be able to make a name for itself on the international market.

As for future acquisitions, La Fuente explains that they are open to projects in all phases of production: "In the future, we are even thinking about participating in the production of some projects through avances on international sales."

Vértice Sales will ground its work in its care for films, through forming stable relationships with directors and producers, and with a limited amount of films: "We don't believe in the model of bringing 8 to 10 new titles of the right type to each market, which requires a lot of attention and really good groundwork in festivals. We are thinking more of 8 to 12 films a year."

In Cannes, Vértice Sales has four titles, of which three are finished (De tu ventana a la mía [+see also:

, lit. "From your window to mine", by Paula Ortiz, Looking for Eimish by Ana Rodríguez, and the documentary Los ojos de la guerra, lit. "The eyes of war", by Roberto Lozano), as well as Allende by Miguel Martí due to be finished around the middle of 2013.

Its editorial line for all other areas (television, animation, documentaries) remains the same.
