16/05/2012 - New films and comedy hits in the line-up of the international independent distributor led by Paola Corvino

The international independent distributor Intramovies offers some of Italy's most interesting picks at the Cannes Market. Starting with two new films which are still in post-production: Silvio Soldini's (photo) new feature, The Commander and the Stork, with Valerio Mastandrea, Alba Rohrwacher, Giuseppe Battiston, produced by Lumière & Co., Ventura Film. "This film marks my return to comedy, a little in the style of Bread and Tulips, with a few fantastical elements", declared the director. Followed by the directing debut of the writer Carlo Lucarelli, The island of the Fallen Angel, produced by Kaos Cinematografica and Stemal Entertainment. The film is based on one of Lucarelli's most famous books and is set in the years of the rise of fascism, on a prison island where strange apparitions seem to conceal a worrying secret. What seems to start as a police investigation turns into a thriller full of suspense.

Intramovies' catalogue also features the thriller The Lithium Conspiracy by Davide Marengo, with Guido Caprino, Carolina Crescentini, Maya Sansa (produced by Emme with Rai Cinema); Seven Acts of Mercy by the De Serio brothers, one of the season's most interesting first features, award-winner at several festivals; and Maternity Blues [+see also:

Completing the line-up are Roan Johnson's The First on the List, Davide Manuli's The Legend of Kaspar Hauser, and the comedies Love is in the Air by Fausto Brizzi, and A Flat for Three by Carlo Verdone.
