"Videorec your future": Cineuropa to hold seminar on the Europa2111 method

by

- This June 12 in Brussels, Cineuropa’s "Videorec your future" seminar will review results so far for educational project Europa2111.

On June 12 in the Belgian capital, Cineuropa will hold a seminar titled "Videorec your future" to introduce professionals from the education and culture sectors to results for the trial period of educational project Europa2111. The seminar is supported by the Menon Network and organised in collaboration with the Brussels Film Festival.

Europa2111, co-funded by the European Commission’s Lifelong Learning Programme, brings together nine partners from different European countries including Cineuropa. The educational project puts an emphasis on participants acquiring transferable skills, especially through supporting them to produce short documentaries on the theme Imagine Europe in 2111. The nine partners have organised training on filmmaking and distributing a documentary to allow the participants from different countries and backgrounds to capture their perception of evolving European consciousness.

The key element of the project’s trial period is the the EU2111 methodology elaborated by the project’s nine partners. It focuses on three main goals. First and foremost, the idea is to develop a new educational model to make learning easier, using social documentary in a method borrowed from ethnography. The EU2111 methodology’s second goal is for participants to acquire key cross-disciplinary skills relevant to the Lifelong Learning Programme. Finally, the methodology aims to develop a critical approach to the media.

During this seminar, partners, alone or in groups, will present the various stages of this methodology, in order to understand how it was implemented and adjusted according to the requirements of each target group. The audience will then be invited to ask questions at the end of the seminar, before drinks held by Cineuropa to end the event.
