Film Archives work together

- A new cinema circuit opens for business in June with a retro of Fox titles and a September homage to Fellini
There's a new cinema circuit being started up by the Italian Film Archives Association. It's the result of a project involving the National Film School - National Film Archive's Sala Trevi in Rome, the Lumière cinema run by the Bologna Film Archive, the Spazio Oberdan overseen by the Italian Film Archive in Milan, the Massimo Cinema run by the National Film Museum in Turin and the Gemona, Udine and Pordenone cinemas run by the Friuli Film Archive.
The initiative was presented this morning during the opening of the Sala Trevi, this morning. It will consist of a series of reviews organised one at a time by one of the film archives and then featured at the others.
It will be starting in June, 2003, with the retrospective entitled "99 years of a major: 20th Century Fox", which will be overseen by the National Film Archive and will be putting on a series of films from the Fox repertoire.
In September there'll be "The complete Fellini: 10 years after his death", a tribute to the maestro from Rimin which will be put on until December.
At the same time there'll also be the "Murnau Retrospective", which has already been featured at the last Berlin Festival, as well as "The Best of the Festivals forgotten by the Market", an overview on the films which have appeared at Venice, Cannes, Locarno, Berlin, San Sebastian and Toronto but which have never been distributed in Italy. Both these events will be organised by the Bologna Film Archive.
October will be the month for "The Best of Italian TV productions made by authors from Italian cinema" (1960-1975), which will be a review organised by the Friuli Film Archive which will be featuring directors like Bertolucci, Antonioni, Amelio, Cavani, Cottavafi, Fellini, Olmi and many more.
In April there's the "Andrej Mikhalkov-Konchalovskij review" overseen by the Museum in Turin. In the meantime, the Milan organisation is preparing "An Overview of Italian Animation" for May, dedicated to the creativities of Italian animators, from Bruno Bozzetto to Enzo D'Alò.
The circuit will have a single national promotion strategy, a logo and a series of informative pamphlets.
