FILM COMMISSION Italy

Protests against the closure of the FC FriuliVenezia Giuilia

by

The National Association Italian Film Commission and Anica are protesting against the decision of the Regional Council of Friuli Venezia Giuilia who, because an amendment to their budget, have de facto closed the activity of the Regional Film Comission, transferring those powers to the TourismoFvg agency.

The national association of film commissions speaks of “retaliation” for having supported, through its fund which is notorious for being the first and most efficient in Italy, the production of the film La bella addormentata by Marco Bellocchio (read the news), which deals with euthanasia. They are inviting all cinematic institutions, associations, professionals, audiovisual artists and political figures to mobilize themselves. For ANICA, the Film commission is “paying the price for having applied the rules and accorded financial aid to a film that was entitled to it”. “We are faced with an act of pure party propaganda”, says the statement from ANICA. “The unconstitutional nature of such an act cannot escape from the public authority related to the protection of freedom and the honorable side of the political world cannot remain insensible to the intrinsic danger of such a precedent.”
