The Norwegian branch of Nordic major Nordisk Film & TV has appointed Aage Aaberge as their new Head of Film.
Aaberge, who just took up his new position on 3 March, is a former managing director of the Norwegian production outfit Yellow Cottage, specialised in children films, where he produced the current Norwegian hit Pelle Politibil (Pelle the Policecar) by Thomas Kaiser. Together with fellow Norwegian producer Petter Wallace (Seven Seas Production), Aaberge was also behind Captain Sabertooth, a children’s animated feature directed by Stig Bergqvist. The film is scheduled for a domestic release in December 2003. Aaberge also co-produced last year’s biggest Swedish domestic success:The Guy in the Grave Next Door (835,507 admissions).
At Nordisk Film & TV, Aaberge will be responsible for developing and producing 3-4 Norwegian films each year aimed at a wide audience and with particular focus on children’s titles.
Two Nordisk Film productions are currently at N°1 and N° 3 of the Norwegian Top 20: The Olsen Gang Jr Under Water (252,755 admissions so far) and Wolf Summer (36,411 admissions). Another feature, Mot Moskva (previously Plan B), about a theatrical company on tour in Poland, will be released in Norway in the autumn. Mot Moskva was directed by Jo Strømgren -one of Norway’s best-known choreographers and dancers- and Runar Hodne, a young theatre and film director.
