Two "Tricky” Brits Share Award
The Tricky Women Animated Film Festival held in Vienna’s Votiv Cinema ended on 12 March with the joint victory (and a cash prize of Euros3,650) of two British filmmakers, Ruth Lingfor and Gaëlle Denis for, respectively, Old Fools and Fish Never Sleep. The UK’s Alys Hawkins won the Synchro Film and Video Award for Crying and Wanking (and Euros1,500) while the Czech Republic’s Placha Marketa won a three-month scholarship from the “quartier21 studio-programme” for two films: Glosa and Solo Mutant. Special Mentions went to Germany’s Monika Stellmach for Higgs and Kirsten Winter for Escape and Austria’s Katharina Olschbaur for Anderswo. The next edition of “Tricky Women” will take place in 2005.
