29/08/2012 - Up to £360,000 available to artist filmmakers

Film London Artists’ Moving Image Network (FLAMIN) today launched the latest round of FLAMIN Productions, offering up to £360,000 over three years in production funding to artist filmmakers. Film London will select up to five new moving image artworks, providing a maximum of £50,000 per commissioned film. Funded by Arts Council England, FLAMIN Productions is a production fund that provides artists with the opportunity to produce ambitious and original moving image works. It is the only scheme of its kind in the UK.

Previous FLAMIN commissions include Ben Rivers’ debut feature Two Years At Sea (pictured) that won the FIPRESCI Award for Best Film in the 2011 Venice Film Festival’s Orizzonti section and was released theatrically in the UK through Soda Pictures. Elizabeth Price’s West Hinder premiered at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead, in an exhibition that resulted in her nomination for the Turner Prize 2012.

Film London CEO Adrian Wootton said, “The films we have produced through FLAMIN Productions have successfully reached audiences in cinemas, galleries, won awards and raised the profile of some extremely talented artists. We are delighted to be offering this unique opportunity to more London-based artists, who challenge not only the viewer, but the art form itself.”
