- The announcement was made in Venice after his film was selected from a pool of ten finalists
29-year-old Catalan director David Victori has won the first edition of YouTube's Your Film Festival with his short film The Guilt. The winner was announced yesterday at the Venice Film Festival after Victori’s film was selected from a pool of ten finalists by a jury that included US director Ridley Scott and Irish-German actor Michael Fassbender (see news).
Victori got a prize of $500,000 to shoot his next film with Scott and Fassbender as executive producers.
The Guilt - watch it here - is a tale of revenge and a convincing plunge into the fantasy genre. At the awards ceremony, Fassebender described it as a ''very mature and confident" film.
Victori said he has already presented his planned project to Scott and Fassbender.
Of 15,000 short films submitted to Your Film Festival from all over the world, only 50 made it to its semifinal and subsequently YouTube viewers chose the 10 finalists, who travelled to Venice for the final.
