Produced by Michel Saint-Jean for Diaphana, Je fais le mort is co-produced by France 3 Cinéma, Rhône Alpes Cinéma, and Belgian production company les Films du Fleuve (headed by the Dardenne brothers), and is to benefit from pre-acquisitions from Canal + and Ciné +. Shooting is set to last eight weeks, mostly around Megève. Diaphana is to handle the film's distribution in France.
