Tijl Uilenspiegel for the cinema
DeFamilieJanssen, the Antwerp-based production company that is run by Linda Van Tulden (winner of an Oscar in 1986 for Een Griekse Tragedie (A Greek Tragedy) by Nicole Van Goethem) is currently working on an animated feature film based on the characters of the Tijl Uilenspiegel (Mischievous Til). DeFamilieJanssen is producing the film both in financial and creative terms. The design is currently being created by a group of storyboarders, layout and animation experts. All sets and backdrops, as well as some of those involving a key characters, were created in Antwerp. Budgeted at Euros14.5m, the film will be directed by Eberhard Junkersdorf while Carlos Grandel is supervising the design of the characters, with actor Lee Evans as the voice talent of the protagonist. The Belgian release of this film is scheduled for Christmas 2003, by courtesy of Jekin-Films.
