New Doc Competition

- Bavaria TV and Telepool Media sponsor new cinema & TV documentaries

The importance of the documentary genre was confirmed when Bavaria Television and Telepool Media Distribution announced they had organised the first competition for documentary treatments for TV and cinema. Bavaria Television has a weekly slot dedicated to documentaries and the station has co-produced a number of award-winning films like Michael Epstein’s Oscar-nominated The Battle Over Citizen Cane (1995), Kevin Rafferty and Frank Keraudren’s The Last Cigarette (1999), a hit at numerous international festivals, and Hubert von Goisern’s Von Goisern nach Gombe.
The winner of the will receive a cash prize of Euros10,000 and up to Euros240,000 to produce the documentary. Only filmmakers and writers who are domiciled in Germany, Switzerland or another German-speaking EU member-state are eligible to take part and they also must have already directed at least one documentary. The award will be presented on 3 July 2003 during the next Munich Film Cinema Days. More information can be downloaded from the official Web site.
