Superintendent 00-Schneider is back

by

- Helge Schneider returns behind and in front of the camera for the sequel to his hilarious 00-Schneider - Jagd auf Nihil Baxter and this time, he is not playing the baddie too

Since October 15, in his hometown of Mülheim an der Ruhr, musician, comedian, actor, director, and writer of violent detective novels Helge Schneider (photo) has been shooting the new adventures of one of his alter egos, Superintendent 00-Schneider, a hero that hasn’t made an appearance on the big screen since 1994 and absurd crime farce 00-Schneider - Jagd auf Nihil Baxter, in which a clown is assassinated with an artificial limb.

In 00-Schneider Im Wendekreis der Eidechse, a film written, directed, and starring the mischievous artist, his taste for utterly ridiculous yet extremely amusing plots lives on. This time, his superintendent is confronted with a whole series of crimes (a tobacco shop break-in, a chicken stolen from a farm...), and the culprit is a chain-smoker nicknamed “the lizard” (in German: die Eidechse) because of his reptile-like movements and his toxic spit that has been declared a public danger.

While in the first instalment of 00-Schneider’s adventures, the director played both the superintendent and the baddie, in this film he will let Rocko Schamoni (who already appeared in his previous film Jazzclub - Der frühe Vogel fängt den Wurm, 2004) play the lizard. Other actors are to include Tyree Glenn jr. and Ira Coleman.

00 - Schneider Im Wendekreis der Eidechse is produced by Ulf Israel for Senator, with the support of the DFFF, the NRW, and HessenInvestFilm. Senator intends to release the film in German cinemas next autumn.
