European Day at Rome’s Festival
- A debate entitled “From the MEDIA programme to Creative Europe: evolution or revolution?” has been planned for November 15
A debate on the future of the Creative Europe Programme (2014-2020) is to take place on the theme of supporting the audiovisual and cultural industries in times of continual, rapid change. The conference is being organized by Italy’s MEDIA Desk and The Business Street, and will be taking place on November 15 in Rome’s Via Veneto Auditorium.
Giuseppe Massaro (Media Desk Italia) will kick off the day with introductory comments, followed by an official opening speech by European parliamentarian Silvia Costa (photo). Costa is a member of the culture committee in the European parliament and a speaker for Creative Europe. Her remarks will centre around Creative Europe and the state of art. Nicola Borrelli, head of Mibac-DG Cinema and Isabella Tessaro from the European Commission and local institutions will also be speaking.
The second session will focus on a recent study undertaken for the European Commission by the Media Consulting Group on new models of business in the audiovisual industry. The aim of the presentation will be to gain a better understanding of promotional, distribution and networking models. The morning will end with testimonials from actual subjects of the study such as Cineama, an online community open to people with careers in, or an interest in independent cinema.
The afternoon session will concentrate on recent European Commission studies on the audiovisual sector, closing with a follow-up to OLFFI - Online Film Financing.
