At the largest showcase of Nordic films outside Scandinavia, The Hunt shared the NDR Prize (and €12,500) for Best Film with Swedish director Gabriela Pichler's Eat Sleep Die [+see also:

film profile], adding the Audience Award and the Baltic Film Prize. "It mesmerises its audience as it recounts the panic-fuelled reactions of a small-town community, resulting in the near devastation of a man's life," the jury declared.
The story of the kindergarten teacher who struggles to preserve his reputation after being falsely accused of child abuse, also took three honours in Cannes, including Best Actor (Mads Mikkelsen). The film will be premiered in Denmark on January 10.
Screening 149 Nordic, Baltic and North German films in seven sections, the festival gave both prizes for Best Film for Children and Youth Audiences - from the professional jury and the children's jury - to Danish director Morten Køhlert's The Secret.
