European film agencies take a stand

- Twenty European institutions from the EFAD network have joined forces in the context of the discussions with Brussels about public aid to cinema

The debate about the reform of the television service provider tax (read more) adopted by the French Parliament in October 2011 but not yet applied for lack of an authorisation by the European Commission is ongoing. The National Film And Moving Image Centre (CNC) yesterday published a support letter signed by 20 European public film institutions belonging to the European Film Agency Directors (EFAD) network. Addressed to European commissioners Neelie Kroes, Androulla Vassiliou, and Joaquin Alumnia, as well as President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso, this letter comes as discussions continue in Brussels about the European Commission's propositions in view of adopting a new Communication about public aid to cinema.
