NonStop picks up Pietà, adding to Beasts of the Southern Wild and Tenderness

- With two films already in the Stockholm International Film Festival, the Swedish Nordic and Baltic distributor picks up South Korean director Kim Ki-duk's Pietà

Stockholm-based Nordic and Baltic distributor NonStop Entertainment, has purchased South Korean director Kim Ki-duk's Pietà, which is currently on show at the 23rd Stockholm International Film Festival (November 7-18), for release in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland.

With a Nordic premiere in the festival's Open Zone, Ki-duk's drama, which is South Korea's official submission for the Oscar nomination as Best Foreign-Language Feature, won four prizes at the Venice International Film Festival (including the Golden Lion, Mouse, and Little Lion).

As part of Time Warner since last year, NonStop will launch US director Ben Zeitlin's Beasts of the Southern Wild in the festival's main competition. Both Zeitlin and producer Josh Penn will attend the event on November 14, prior to the Swedish opening on January 11. Zeitlin's feature debut won the top prize at Sundance before raiding Cannes (four awards), adding accolades at Deauville, Los Angeles and Hollywood.

The festival's partner in the Stockholm Feature Film Award for Swedish women directors, which comes with a €600,000 cash and services prize, NonStop will pick up the winner for Nordic and Baltic distribution. The first award went to Sofia Norlin's Tenderness, which will screen as a work-in-progress in the trade show for film professionals.

NonStop Entertainment has also acquired Belgian director Frédéric Fonteyne's Tango Libre [+see also:

for Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. Fonteyne's fourth feature received the Orrizonti Special Prize in Venice and most recently won the Grand Prix at the 28th Warsaw International Film Festival.
