for young children. Opening the festival will be the formidable Sir Anthony Hopkins in Hitchcock (photo), directed by Sacha Gervasi. Robert Redford’s film The Company You Keep will be closing a day dedicated to American films, which will also feature Emile De Antonio’s unforgettable 1976 film Underground. A surprise short entitled A Therapy by Roman Polanski will also be shown.

"Our wish was to intensify the relationship between cinema and literature in this edition,” Marina Fabbri, who is head of selection with Giorgio Gosetti, explained. “Indeed, the guest of honour and winner of the 2012 Raymond Chandler Award is American writer Don Winslow, whose bestselling novel Savages has just been adapted into a film by Oliver Stone. The festival’s audience will have the opportunity to meet Evan Wright who, with her John Riccobono drug trafficking biography, inspired Scarface by Brian De Palma."

A two-day conference called "The Mafias and us" will also be held under the direction of journalist and writer Gaetano Savatteri. The conference will be centred around an analysis of the mafia phenomenon in all its various forms.
